Jamila Butcher, DPM, AACFAS

The daughter of a retired Air Force captain, Dr. Jamila A. Butcher is no stranger to quickly adapting to new surroundings. After settling in Raleigh, North Carolina Dr. Butcher developed an interest in foot and ankle biomechanics. Her interest particularly to foot and ankle biomechanics as it pertains to full body ambulation. As a multisport athlete growing up, she excelled in soccer and track and field. As a result of participating in these high intensity sports she suffered from many foot and knee injuries which led her to be fitted with custom foot orthotics. Dr. Butcher would go on to complete her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology at Hampton University in Hampton Virginia. She completed her doctorate degree at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, in New York City. She would then proceed to complete her 3 year surgical residency at the DVA New York Harbor Healthcare System. During her residency training program she spent several months at Banner Desert in Mesa, Arizona where she would complete intense rearfoot and ankle reconstructive surgical training.

Dr. Butcher is trained in all areas of podiatric medicine and surgery. Dr. Butcher takes keen interest in biomechanics, sports medicine, diabetic foot care, pediatrics, and limb salvage. Dr. Butcher is an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.

During her spare time, she enjoys discovering new restaurants, watching Arsenal FC soccer games, traveling, and spending time with family.
