Bunions Are a 3D Problem — Get a 3D Fix
August 11, 2021— Dr. Thomas Boldry of Comprehensive Foot and Ankle Centers in Kansas City was recently featured in a segment on Kansas City Spotlight. He spoke with host Lauren Scott about the complications and difficulties bunions can cause. He explained what a bunion is and how it forms in the first place.
“There is a misconception that a bunion is just an abnormal growth of bone by the big toe when actually, it’s a much more complex deformity involving three dimensions” said Dr. Boldry. “Bunions are a very common entity and they do tend to get worse over time.”
Dr. Boldry explained the conservative methods of managing bunion pain as well as surgical options that patients may have. He shared that he is now performing the Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ Procedure, a unique option that addresses all three dimensions of the bunion deformity and addresses its root cause by realigning the bones in the foot and securing them. He explained that the procedure differs from traditional surgical options in that it addresses the cosmetic and structural aspects of a bunion deformity, rather than simply shaving off the protruding bone on the side of the toe.
