Bunions Are a 3D Problem—Get a 3D Fix
June 28, 2021— In an interview on NBC Tampa’s “Daytime,” Dr. Sean Lannon discussed the difficulties bunions can cause in patients’ lives as well as the treatment options he offers them. He highlighted Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ as a procedure that he prefers to perform on many patients over traditional surgical options.
“There are things to improve the symptoms of a bunion,” says Dr. Lannon. “We can wear wider shoes, we can wear toe spacers, we can change our activities. But eventually the only way to really fix a bunion is with surgical treatment.”
Dr. Lannon explained that the Lapiplasty® Procedure differs from traditional osteotomy procedures because it corrects the bunion deformity in the foot at its source and restores the foot to its correct anatomy rather than shaving off the protruding bone in the toe. He said that his patients often get back on their feet in a walking boot more quickly from the Lapiplasty® Procedure versus traditional surgery.
Dr. Lannon noted that his patients are eager to undergo the Lapiplasty® Procedure because of the possibility that they can return to activities they love without pain caused by bunions. He encourages those suffering from the condition to research the procedure more and visit a provider near them to find out if they are a good candidate for it.
