Meet Dr. Lalli

Foot & Ankle Surgeon in Dallas

As an expert in foot and ankle surgery, Trapper Lalli, M.D., helps patients with a variety of problems, ranging from sports injuries and falls to arthritis and diabetes.

Suffering sports injuries himself in high school and college exposed Dr. Lalli to the world of orthopaedic surgery, and during his time at medical school at West Virginia University he worked closely with the faculty and residents.

“It was a natural fit for me, and it is what I love to do,” he says.

Ankle arthritis can be the result of a number of things, such as normal wear and tear due to aging or, more commonly, previous injuries such as a broken ankle, a dislocation, or repeated ankle sprains. As the arthritis progresses, the ankle becomes more painful to the patient.

Dr. Lalli performs two surgical treatments for advanced ankle arthritis: ankle fusion and total ankle arthroplasty. Ankle fusion, also known as ankle arthrodesis, is usually done when an ankle joint becomes worn out and painful. Total ankle arthroplasty is considered for patients experiencing ankle pain and decreased function from arthritis and for those for whom more conservative treatments have not worked.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Lalli is interested in multiple areas of research, including syndesmosis injuries to the ankle, ankle replacements, plantar fasciitis, and fractures of the foot and ankle.
