Dr Caponigro earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at St. John’s University. He received a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed a two year residency in Podiatric medicine and surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, an academic affiliate of Weil Medical College of Cornell University. He then completed his training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery in New Jersey. He has been in private practice since July, 2000.

He currently sits on the committee at 2 fellowship programs, The North Jersey Foot & Ankle Fellowship and Active Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Podiatric Fellowship.
He is currently Chief of the Podiatry Department at St. Mary’s General Hospital.
He is the assistant director of Podiatric residency training at St. Mary’s General Hospital.
