Dr. Knapp is board certified in foot surgery as well as Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle surgery and served as chief of the surgery department at Centennial Hospital for the year 2015. He was a founding member of Foot and Ankle Centers of Frisco and Plano in 2001.

Dr. Knapp grew up in Long Island, New York, the son of German immigrants. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Binghamton University in New York.
