Augusta Foot & Ankle opened its doors in 2001 under the direction of Dr. Mickey Stapp after already practicing in the Augusta area for six years.
Dr. Stapp graduated from the University of Georgia in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. He then earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 1992 from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL and went on to complete a three-year residency in foot and ankle surgery at Emory-Northlake Regional Medical Center in Atlanta.
Dr. Stapp is Board Certified in both foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He has served on several committees for the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). As a membe...
Dr. Stapp has served on the board of directors for American Society of Podiatric Surgeons, on the board of directors for the Podiatry Institute, and has been a delegate for the GPMA to the House of Delegates of the APMA. He lectures regularly on topics of medicine and surgery of the foot and ankle around the country and internationally. Dr. Stapp has lectured or taught surgery courses in Germany, Spain, and Australia. He has also authored or co-authored more than 30 articles in medical journals and chapters in textbooks.
In addition to working in the practice, Dr. Stapp has offered his services in more than 18 medical mission trips to underserved countries in Central and South America. He also served as a counselor for a local juvenile diabetes camp for more than 15 years.
When not busy at the office or worldwide speaking engagements, Dr. Stapp and his wife enjoy spending time hiking, exercising, and traveling.
