Bartlett woman inspires others, doesn’t let COVID-19 stop her from realizing goals
July 24, 2020 – In an interview with News Channel 3, Wanda Martin, a 73-year old senior Olympian from Bartlett, Tennessee, shared that receiving Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ has changed her life.
“My bone was sticking way out to the side of my foot. I always had to get wide shoes… I had to do gel pads, cotton balls, all kinds of things around my bunion because it hurt so much.”
Wanda had been suffering from foot pain associated with a bunion for years. She was able to push through the discomfort for some time so that she could participate in the Senior Olympics, tennis, spin classes, and workouts with her personal trainer. Eventually, the pain became too intense and she opted to move forward with the corrective procedure.
Wanda’s doctor, Dr. Daniel Tucker, was able to realign her toe during her surgery. Four months after the Lapiplasty® Procedure, she was ready to begin training again. She is now back to her pre-surgery activity level and has no plans to slow down. While this year’s Senior Olympics have been put on hold due to COVID-19 concerns, Wanda is ready to compete as soon as they are rescheduled.
